Thinking about women’s radicalisation
The 3rd of February, the OPEV organised a conference in Tunisia, jointly with l’Association Tunisienne des Femmes Démocrates (Association of Democratic Tunisian Women) and NOVACT. A seminar to reflect on the role that women play in violent extremism.
The interventions of Mme. Yosra Fraoues, president of the ATFD, and Mme. Nadia Ben Halim, representative of NOVACT in Tunisia, allowed to better analyze the impact that violent extremism has on women’s rights.
More than thirty representatives of the feminist movement here in Tunis participated in this workshop. This gathering had as objective to deal with the invisibility of women as well as its perceptions on violent extremist acts.
The feminist organisations denounce this invisibility as an expression of a sexist culture.
This activity is part of the project SALAM for the prevention of violent extremism in #Tunisie of #OPEV and financed by the European Union and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development.
