OPEV reaches the UN in New York

The next 24 and 25 September, the Observatory to Prevent Extremism Violent will participate in the side events that take place during the High-Level Meetings of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Luca Gervasoni will participate representing NOVACT and OPEV, to highlight the Observatory to Prevent Violent Extremism as one of the main initiatives of the Euro-Mediterranean civil society in the field of PVE supported by the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation. OPEV stresses the need to join forces between civil society and institutions and to develop local action plans of civil society for the prevention of violent extremism.

These events are conceived as a meeting place for experts in the field of Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE) to highlight initiatives of civil society at the local level, as well as to identify challenges and good practices to strengthen cooperation between administrations, practitioners and civil society.

This activity is co-organized by the Prevention Project, the Global Cooperative Security Center and the Royal United Services Institute and will involve representatives of the member states of the United Nations General Assembly, senior officials and experts from the Counter-Terrorism Office (CTED), UN Women, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), among others.
