ALTERNATIVE NARRATIVES TO HATE DISCOURSES AGAINST REFUGEES IN CATALONIA

The present report aims to trace the alternative narratives to hate speech against Muslim migrants (specially Syrians) in Catalonia and Spain, moreover, identifying the good practices among them.

The historically existing hate speech phenomenon, has adopted, thanks to the development of new communication tools in the last years such as social networks or TIC (Communication and Information Technologies), new informative methods. In front of the low productivity that criminal prosecutions have had in reducing these events, the formulation of alternative narratives to hate becomes a very useful tool. For these reasons, the study intends, among others, to be centered in statistic information and perception reports, in order to analyze, from an intercultural perspective these new narratives.
